The department `s main focus on archiving visibility to its members ,the public and all relevant stakeholders in both the private media and government media. The department is also tasked with improving the communication channels with its wider membership. The department also purchased a camera in an effort to cut photography costs. There had been some challenges such as the non publishment of a newsletter that can constantly update our members on activities taking place. The PR department also continued to support other department to achieve the common vision, mission and goal of BOCCIM.
Production of BOCCIM Events Videos
A video was produced for the national business conference which was sponsored by Botswana Life .The video featured the Hon. Minister of Trade and Industry Neo Moroka, BOCCIM President Mr Modiri Mbaakayi, BOCCIM Executive Director Maria Machailo –Ellis and BLIL CEO, Regina Vaka.The purpose of the video was to highlight the importance of the National business Conference to various stakeholders through visuals.
A video for the 2008 BOCCIM Business Golf day was also produced curtsey of Debswana Sponsorship.
Golf day
The BOCCIM Business Golf day was once again a success in its second year since its inception .BOCCIM members continued to support the initiative by way of sponsorship and buying whole to play. A video for the event was also produced.
Media Relations
The relationship with the media improved drastically. The department was also able to break through all media vehicles being broadcast, print, radio and video.
BOCCIM was constantly appearing in all forms of media. The BOCCIM Business Golf Day, PSDS Symposium, PSDS Handover, Annual Gala Dinner, Northern Dinner, national Business Conference, the Annual General Meeting and the BNTF received positive coverage from the print, broadcast .The secretary’s Convention received less publicity.
It is also worth noting that the BNTF received better positive media coverage as compared to the previous years. BOCCIM has been able to make extensive use of both the private and public media to comment on the organsiation`s views on many common issues of concern to the economic development of Botswana as well as issues affecting the private sector.
Annual Gala Dinner
The Annual BOCCIM Gala dinner was held on the 10th October 2008.The Guest speaker was the Assistant Minister of Trade and Industry Duke Lefhoko who spoke to the theme `Unlocking the Potential of the SADC FTA`.
BOCCIM Suit Pins
BOCCIM Suite pins had been produced that were sold to the membership at our different events. The pins will be permanent BOCCIM merchandise that members are encouraged to wear at BOCCIM forums or whenever they are representing BOCCIM.
The Corporate Reports Awards
The corporate reports awards organized by Price Waterhouse Coopers under the Auspices of BOCCIM took place on the 19th November 2008 at the GICC.The Hon. Vice President of the Republic of Botswana Lt General Mompati Merafhe and the Hon. Minister of Trade and Industry Neo Moroka graced the occasion. The department worked with PWC on the publicity part of the event.
